We will fight

You may look at the world through blinded judgment,
Like a one sided mirror you reflect what you see,
You may even decide to inflict on others your shallow beliefs,
But you will find that there is much fight in those you believed weak.

Does our unity upset you?
You may seek to punish the foundation of our stability,
With a deceitful sense of superiority you choose to oppress,
But you will learn, in this family, we fight for what is right.

Does our will to triumph confound you?
You may take as you deem entitled and strike out the rest,
Puppeteer words and twisted lies is all that comforts you inside,
But you will come to know, in this family, we fight for what is right.

Does our strength of mind offend you?
You may try to sever the ties that hold us tight,
Punishing to break any spirit that dares to shine bright,
But you will see, in this family, we fight for what is right.

Does our courage to rise above beset you?
You may attempt to crush our hopes to succeed,
Bullying a lifestyle supported through honest work and long nights,
But you will realize, in this family, we fight for what is right.

Does the power of our faith concern you?
You may threaten our peace of mind,
Promise dejection and look forward to our soulful cries,
But be fairly warned, in this family, we fight for what is right.

You seem disappointed that we haven’t given in to despair,
That we’ve yet to crack open without hope of repair,
Little did you know, in this family, we stand together and rise every time,
The fight within us will never flicker or extinguish, despite your best efforts and arrogant wishes.

We will fight.
We will fight.
We will fight.

HOLD ON TO ME

You were a stranger once… someone I’d yet to know was real,
Someone who’s arms had yet to embrace me,
Someone who’s humor had yet to make me smile,
Someone who’s love had yet to brighten my very existence.

So many times I dreamed of someone like you,
The person who realized there was no need to pretend, to be true,
The person who recognized the love beating in me,
And my ache to set it free.

Seeing things anew, I am grateful I didn’t lose my way from you,
Perhaps it was all preordained, me finding you,
The one who’d love me for me,
And not judge me as he’d see.

I now know with certainty, had we never met in Italy,
My heart would have searched for you more thoroughly,
I also know that as many stars as there are in the night,
Is the many ways I can count how blessed I truly am this time.

Whichever the direction we are destined to take,
You have to believe me when I say,
You hold all of my heart in your hands,
One that has never before been given so completely away.

I have but one thing to ask of you,
As you quiet the riot of my raging fears,
And hold on to what is left of me at the end of each year,
Don’t ever let go of what I it is I mean to you.

Hold on to me, as tightly as I will always hold on to you,
No matter that times will change, the season of us will remain,
And I will live a happy life beside you, with you,
My deepest thanks, to you.
